These aren’t all the side effects Victoza can cause. Victoza can also increase the risk of thyroid tumors and cancer. More serious, but rarer, side effects can include inflammation of the pancreas, and kidney and gallbladder problems. Like all medications, Victoza can have side effects, with the most common including nausea, diarrhea, low blood sugar, headaches, anxiety, and tremors. Victoza also slows the passage of food through your stomach and stops your liver from secreting too much sugar. As your blood sugar falls, the amount of insulin released reduces, until you’re back to a normal blood sugar level. When injected, it causes your pancreas to naturally release more insulin if your blood sugar is high. However, Victoza isn’t a type of insulin. Insulin is a natural hormone your body produces to help absorb sugar and control your blood sugar levels. Most diabetes treatments, especially ones you inject, are a type of insulin. The active ingredient in Victoza is called liraglutide. More information on what is Victoza and Victoza dosage Victoza active ingredients
